What caught my attention and inspired me to take these makeup portraits was the unique concept of capturing the beauty in others with the help of a camera. I was able to achieve beautiful and high quality looking skin in portrait photography while maintaining a rested subject with good makeup and lighting. Plus, it was interesting to transform, dress up, and become another character with the power of makeup. While makeup artists spend hundreds of dollars on equipping their kit, I only used the tools that I already had, as well as something a little more extra. I added glitter, paint, and tape - to create the fish scale effect - because I wanted the makeup to look unique and mesmerizing. This helped a lot when picking out a good angle to take pictures since I want the viewer to carefully analyze my work, and the person wearing it. I truly enjoyed creating my art thesis with taking makeup portraits.
